OLPC for US Students

Postby fmorton » Tue Dec 02, 2008 11:41 am

Is there any way (other than the buy 1 give 1 program) to acquire OLPCs for disadvantaged students in the US? This is quantity 20 not 100,000. It is frustrating to me that US students living in poverty are not part of the OLPC equation at a local level.

This has been a very common question. People want quantities on the scale of tens, while OLPC distributes on the scale of tens of thousands. I'm waiting for someone to hit upon the obvious solution: all the "tens" people organize themselves into one "clearing house" entity that buys tens of thousands and splits up the order into the tens.

fmorton,
There is a "GiveMany" program for purchases of at least 100 laptops:

If you need 20 laptops, you could get several local schools (or organizations) together to create the 100 unit order.

Silly name. Great stuff for your XO laptop.
