STAR-TIDES at SanDiego - AFCEA Conference

Postby TIDES » Fri Feb 01, 2008 1:01 pm

We are looking for OLPC users in the San Diego area to help demonstrate some of functions and technology of OLPC while participating in a demonstration at the AFCEA West conference taking place between 2/5-2/7. We'll be bringing one OLPC to the San Diego convention center, and have spoken with Walter Bender, who agrees that being able to demonstrate exchanges among more than one OLPC could be mutually beneficial. Our project is called TIDES, Transportable Infrastructure for Development and Emergency Support -http://www.star-tides.net/. It is a voluntary, information sharing research project and is part of a broader initiative called STAR (Sustainable Technologies, Accelerated Research), hence the overall name of STAR-TIDES. Participants include Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs), academia, US government agencies, and individuals. If you are in the San Diego area and would like to help us demonstrate some of the "meshed" functions of OLPC, please contact Lin Wells at 202-436-6354, wellsL3@ndu.edu. Thanks.
