I'm interested in meeting other OLPC coders in Saratoga, California (Silicon Valley). Currently, I'm expecting a combination of code hacking sessions in our residence and a designated coffee shop for coding.

Leave me a message if you are in the area. First one will be either Saturday, December 22 or Sunday, December 23.

Don't know how much time I'll have to take on coding projects, but I'd be interested in exploring a neighborhood ... I'm contemplating getting a second XO just to play with the mesh.

Hmm.. BareFoot Coffee at Lawrence and Stevens Creek, Santa Clara. Next to Bed Bath and Beyond.
I tend to hang out there fairly often. Also, there is a shdh coming up in January, and a hacking day
on the 12th of Janury.

OLPC hacking on Saturday, January 12. 10 a.m. to 6ish?

Postby CharlesMerriam » Thu Dec 27, 2007 7:15 pm

WHAT: Hacking with the OLPC, Python, and the Sugar Environment.

BRING: Your OLPC (XO) if you have one, and a laptop if you have one.

WHY: You want to play with an OLPC, or want to start developing for it.

WHEN: Saturday, January 12, 2008. Starting at 10 a.m., going until we stop.

CHILDREN: The house is generally kid-safe, and we have a four year
old and a baby. Usually, the more kids the merrier, but check in with us first at charles.merriam@gmail.com.

WHERE: My house. It's next to Westgate mall in Saratoga. RSVP for directions.

WHY Again: It's fun. The skill levels will be all over the map, and I hope the house gives a relaxed atmosphere for us to all make mistakes.

RSVP: Please. charles.merriam@gmail.com. If you forget to RSVP, call first for directions/space.

Email with any questions to charles.merriam@gmail.com, or call me at 408.368.6050

FYI: I'll also be at the SuperHappyDevHouse on January 5th. I expect several OLPC's to be in residence.

SuperHappyDevHouse worked well. There were about a half dozen XO machines in various stages of hacking, playing with mesh, etc.

Thursday, the main BayPiggies group is giving a set of XO presentations in Mountain View. Saturday is another XO hacking session at my hose.
