MICIN

The microphone socket can apparently be used as a data input.

Has anyone got an interface specification for this? Info such as:

What is the range and sensitivity of the analog/digital converter connected to this?

What is the voltage of the DC voltage out? Does this vary with battery condition? Current? What is the max current this socket can supply?

This is basic data needed for designing and calibrating sensors to connect to this socket so I would like to create a wiki page with these details unfortunately I can't seem to find them.

The http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Hardware_spec ... eripherals page has links to the manufacturers data sheet but I'm not smart enough to figure this out from there.

Anyone know anything about audio codecs?

Yes,

The XO does not accept MP3s as they require royalties (to the MP3 inventor). Instead, it only supports free and open formats. Spesifcly, it supports the following audio formats inside the OGG container: Vorbis, Speex, and FLAC

.3v-1.9v
2v supply if bias is needed

Anything past 5v is a bad idea.

Also look at the wikipage on measure for general info, the measure hardware page for specifics.
