Wireless won't work; is there a consensus about what to do?

As a grandfather responsible for one of these machines already out of the box and two on order, I'm very embarrased that my son spent most of yesterday trying to connect to his household wireless with no success. It demands yet refuses a WEP key. What gives? I want to alert my other son about what to expect and maybe cancel the second order if this is an endemic problem.

Hello-

More detail might help. Is the WEP key 64 or 128 bit? I gather some folks have had trouble with the channel the router was on as well.

I'm not at all expert on this, so I'm not sure how helpful I can be. But I've hooked up successfully with a 128-bit Hex WEP key, so I know it can be done.
