Can't wipe clean my OLPC

I am trying to wipe my OLPC XO in order to give it away. I am following the directions at this url:

When I start up with the USB stick in, and while holding the 4 gamepad keys, I get the message to release the gamepad keys, after which I get this message:

"Can't open disk label package"

I am them told to power off.

What's my problem, thank you,

Problem solved, it required a new USB thumb stick.
