Upgrade success,but lost all activities!

Postby gwensmom » Mon May 17, 2010 10:09 pm

I was so proud of myself when I successfully upgraded from 650 to 802. My pride quickly melted away when I only had (2) activities, neither of which were browse or terminal. without browse, I tried to upload activities with a USB but couldn't figure out how to access the USB without terminal.

I have since reverted to 650. Can anyone advise how I can upgrade without losing these two vital activities?

http://wiki.laptop.org/go/G1G1_activity_pack
Beginning with candidate builds (pre-release build 699 or newer) for the 8.1.0 or "Update.1" operating system release, the OLPC 'base software' does not include any activities.

If you are install from USB, peforming a No Fail Update, it will direct you to update your Activities online. Otherwise, http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Secure_upgrade has some directions on how to do it offline.

In "802" you can get the activities from the "Control Panel", if you can connect your XO to the Internet (Neighborhood View).

In Control Panel (hover menu under X man) is Software Update selection. There you select what activities to update ( or load as the case may be) via the Internet---- simple no ?

Otherwise, if no Internet connection is available, ektoric provided the solution above.
