activation lease could not be found

Postby Hitachi » Fri Oct 07, 2011 3:33 pm

We recently received a unit from Uruguay and were asked to load our interactive whiteboard software on it(StarBoard).
We found that the unit was locked with a root password that no one seemed to be able to find.
So we were advised to reload the operating system with build 874 of release 11.2.0 on XO-1.5. so we followed the directions and everything went well until it rebooted for the last time it stated that the activation lease could not be found and then shut down.

After researching this we see that a lease.sig file is needed. We do not have one and our contacts in South America are very slow to respond if they do at all.

We need Help and Fast this unit is to leave back to S. America for demonstrations of our interactive white board software.
if we can get this to work Hitachi will be donating these units in mas quantities.

The lease.sig , as part of the security system, must come from user or the source, OLPC. If the user activates the system with a USB activation, then they can send file. If it is activated with a School Server, the user may not have access to the file. Only other source is to convince OLPC that you are a legitimate user.

Only other option is to borrow an XO that does not require activation (for example, the ones sold in the U.S. under the give one-get one program) or buy one on ebay and send it back to South America. Maybe you can convince one of the XO Loan Libraries of your urgent need.
