I'm capturing useful OLPC links as I go (doing setup on my XO) via social bookmarks. Anyone who wants can subscribe to the RSS feed at http://www.connotea.org/user/selkins/tag/OLPC (or more specifically, http://www.connotea.org/user/selkins/tag/OLPC+how-to). Or, of course, cull from them to organize something here.

This isn't strictly related to OLPC but I think someone will find this link useful. It has cool information on laptops and there is a free download section too so I find this website very useful. Here is the link

Re: Activities not working with new OS Update

Postby j.p.m1 » Mon Jun 30, 2008 5:15 pm

Over the weekend I upgraded my G1G1 with the Frimware: Q2D16; OS: Build 703 and installed the new Activity Pack sucessfully. But when I went to install some other activities I used before from http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Activities They start for a while but won't run.
The two I have found that don't run so far are: xo-get and kuku
:(

I will continue to test other activities, but I used xo-get alot and wonder what's UP?

OLPC News Forum is so slow and ugly on my xo that it is useless.

I think you should check your Internet provider (ISP) or maybe you are using the bigger part of your bandwith...?
I think I found something about that here that might help you...

Nope. I'm told by the owner that he didn't design the News Forum for xo computers because most visitors are using something else. I don't get it. It would be like a color BBS for the Mac 25 years ago. Since I do use an xo, I don't go there any more.

I got an OLPC XO-1 a few days ago in the mail as part of the give one, get one program. The OLPC is one of the first devices to use the Li-Fe-P battery chemistry. My understanding is that it’s safer than normal Lithium Ions, but it has a lower capacity.
