tweaking OLPC : ) ~ new keyboard, touchscreen

Postby Whitek » Sun Dec 07, 2008 2:24 pm

I think, OLPC XO1 has big potential, we have to just use it : )
So I am going to upgrade keyboard to some "quicker" one - http://www.instructables.com/id/Install ... O-Laptop-/ and add some touchscreen layer. I saw somewhere instructions for upgrading to touchscreen - dont you know, where? O: )

Have you some experiences with tweaking hardware?

ok, quest num. 1 is touchscreen.
I Disassembled display, and it has outer dimension 170mmx140mm, so touchscreen should be between this and viewing area (152.4mm × 114.3mm). I found only one candidate (I was inspired by similar problem in asus ) -7.5" - see table.
Problem is maybe controler - I find out the only one 'inteligent' solution - under display is about 6mm x 90mm x 140mm of free space.

After a lot of work we could get a touchscreen working in a XO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1OQYJfsRNA
Now I need some more XO's anyone know if there is a G1G1 program open or another way to buy the XO's?

Looks interesting! For sure, one source for XOs for testing and development is the Contributor's program see:
