Resetting or removing private data

Postby periboob » Wed Jun 17, 2009 1:09 pm

I had fun with my G1G1 for a while but now I find it is just setting idle, and am ready to move on. I intend to donate to a local school or library. But, I am not much of a Linux user, and I worry that the machine could "remember" some information that could wind up in the wrong hands. Is there a simple and pretty safe way to reset to out-of-the-box condition? Wipe of the user accounts and private data?

The clean install method works best to remove all your data before you donate your XO.

I would encourage you to find an organization that can make use of the XO. Most schools and libraries do not have a clue how to use the XO.

There are many post on this forum and http://www.olpcnews.com/forum/index.php/.
One example of a local school which knows how to use XO's is : http://roomtwelve.com
