so far no luck. I have seen several posts here that mention problems with the on board battery but the problems seem different then what I am dealing with.

Have you tried installing fresh software using a USB drive ?

http://wiki.laptop.org/go/No-fail_update

I had a similar problem (but not the same) that was correct by such a new install of the software. As a reminder, such an update approach will erase all your settings and data !!!!

It is simple: download two files to USB flash (thumb) drive using PC (1/2 hour); put drive into XO and boot while holding down all four game keys.

Does the alternate boot image work ? (--- hold down "O" game key while booting )

I cannot reboot my xo 1.5 laptop computer. I have tried all the options given me from the internet site (help at laptop, org) but i can't seem to get this thing going. When I push the power button along with the 4 buttons above it I get a screen readout of
Trying disk:\fs.zip
Trying ext:\fs.zip
OLPC D4, 1GiB memory installed, S/N SHC0050095A
OpenFirmware CL1 Q3A33 Q3A EC Firmware Ver:1.9.21

Trying int:\boot-alt\bootfw.zip
Trying int:\security\lease.sig
Trying int:\boot-alt\actos.zip
boot failed
OLPC D4, 1GiB memory installed, S/N SHc0050095A
OpenFirmware CL1 Q3A33 Q3A EC Firmware Ver:1.9.21

Use power button to power off

There is also yellow frown face above xo logo on the screen,a red sillouette of a flash drive and below that 4 small yellow dots. Can someone help me please! I have been at this all day and it's driving me absolutely nuts. Thanks for your time. Sincerely Tim Hiatt

Tim,

Try unplugging your XO 1.5's power adapter, remove the main battery, wait a minute and put back to power up without holding any keys. What happens?

If this fails, try holding down the escape key, top left during a fresh reboot, the try 'test-all'.
