Native install instructions for Fedora 14

Postby icckart » Mon Mar 07, 2011 3:42 pm

Sorry for what's likely a redundant "newbee" question:

I've played around with Sugar via DVD boot (I know, USB stick burn is next...). However, I have Fedora 14 installed on a dual-boot (Windows also) ancient Dell 5100 laptop (for my 6 year old now!). We happily play with Scratch under Fedora 14 (works fine under XP too...). I'd like to have Sugar natively installed on Fedora as the default desktop (instead of booting to GNOME or KDE like we do now).

I've searched high and low for detailed instructions about how to do this, but everything keeps pointing me back to SOAS. Again, that's fine, but I want to do a native install, preferably WITHOUT having to kill my now working Fedora 14.

Can someone kindly point me in the right direction (links) as to how to do a non-SOAS install? Also, should I be able to get Scratch running under Sugar (on Fedora 14) without issues?

Never mind... I see that Sugar installs fairly simply as an alt. desktop under Fedora. Works fine with switchdeskop GUI. I have a 2.66GHz P4, but boy does this run SLOW...

Sound doesn't work properly though (I've seen many have that problem...)
