Disabling the camera?

I have a OLPC whose camera I'd like to disable. Is there any way to disable it and add a password lock to re-enable it? The person who is getting it has a history of recording inappropriate things (Jackass videos...), but otherwise would benefit a lot from having a laptop.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This is... an amusing puzzle! :)

First off, the camera is driven by the CAFE chip, using the "cafe_ccic" driver:
http://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation ... /cafe_ccic

It would be possible to ensure this driver never gets loaded by blacklisting it in
Code: Select all
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

Although, I'm not quite sure how you could password protect that. I mean, you need root access to edit the blacklist, but you would just need the root access to un-blacklist. The only way would be to change the root password (hope you remember it!) and modify sudoers to prevent the olpc user from editing it.

Good luck with that!
