[olpc-help] Selftest failure

Postby Larry J. Maltin » Sun Jan 20, 2008 12:35 am

I am always wary when something "fails." Below is the message:
SDHCI: Error: ISR=8000 ESR=10 Data Timeout,
Stopping
Selftest failed. Return code = -8209408
General Protection Exception
ok

???? What does this mean? Should I be concerned?
Thanx,
Larry

What were you doing when that occurred? Firmware self test? Which step?

Please forgive, I'm not getting a clear picture.

[olpc-help] Selftest failure

Postby Larry J. Maltin » Sun Jan 20, 2008 11:13 am

Sorry. I had turned the unit on, holding down the < button and the unit
was going through whatever bootup tests are done at that point (it was
after the camera test). Unfortunately, the text zips by so quickly, and
the characters are miniscule to my ancient eyes, that everything has
gone by before I realize what is happening. I must say that whatever the
failure represents doesn't seem to have affected anything of which I am
aware. What can I do to help you with additional information?
Larry

I could have sworn that I had already replied to this last night, but now I can't find it...

Anyway, I had been seeing a similar error when trying to install Ubuntu on a 16 GB Patriot Class 6 SD card. See my posts starting here:

http://www.olpcnews.com/forum/index.php ... 9#msg29589

But my problems were solved by upgrading the firmware from q2e18 to q2e39.
