Kid's Place

Postby Eric Knudsen » Sun Nov 16, 2008 1:20 pm

Hi -- Please consider creating a "Kid's Place" on your web site. The idea is a place where kids can easily enter and then find "XO Pals" around the world or in their meighborhood to communicate with. The idea will expand the XO concept beyond just using the machine - it will bring global young people closer together, building bridges to the future. Maybe this already exists soemwhere, but it would be cool if it was very obvious to young XO users as they enter your site 8) .

Thanks for considering this idea -- Eric

It sounds like you are talking about a kid's Jabber. See:
http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Community_Jabber_Servers
There is not a jabber just for kids now. There was one, school.letschange.org , but it is down and may not return. xo1share.org seems to have more than the average percentage of kids. Perhaps you can convince the operator of xochat.org to add another jabber client just for kids.

Look at http://xoclassroom.wikispaces.com which talks about kids up to the third grade.

edit: correct URL
