Starting in our own Village

We have been visiting Taquile Island, Lake Titicaca, Puno, Peru, since 1986, having introduced solar electric in 1988, and solar cookers in 1996. We encouraged and taught villagers to learn to use the internet when they come to the city. The possibility of having the OLPC program on Taquile is very appealing. This village is trying to control its tourism so it can be a meaningful mutual relationship. The internet is an excellent tool for this work.

Though we are mere artisans in the US, we have a deep and abiding relationship with our extended family on Taquile, visit as often as we can, and would be interested in helping make the OLPC program function there. We look at the G1G1 offer, and wish we could buy both to bring to Taquile Island--but better to have a whole program in the village.

Can it be done?
Sincerely,
Tara and Sam
