Connecting a modern western school to an underprivileged one,
with video link and shared activities, could personalize charity.
Rather than charity, it would simply be helping out your friends.

The westerners could support development of their paired school
and share the difference it makes to the children they now know.

Is this something that OLPC could be involved in?
Where should it be discussed?

I am spending some time volunteering to create a new local nature reserve, hard work but very rewarding. This used to be one thing that bothered me as well, when I was a witness.I wanted to go to El Salvador or South Africa to work with the poor people there but was greatly discouraged from the elders. In protest I joined Amnesty International instead, starting reading and buying their reports.
