Use SOAPpy in my activity

Postby niobst » Thu Sep 10, 2009 2:05 pm

Hello everybody :)

I'm new in this forum but I'm working for some months in a project based on XO-Activities. I need to use SOAPpy (from SOAPpy import WSDL) in my activity to connect to a web service that have some information. The problem is that python doesn't have installed this module and as an activity (ImportError: No module named SOAPpy), it doesn't have permission to do 'yum install SOAPpy' or something similar.

Do you have any ideas how to use SOAP in python or how to import modules to use in an specific activity?

Thanks OLPC Community :D

The problem is that an activity doesn't have permissions... and you can't say to a child that wants the application to do this command. I want to know if there is another way to use SOAP or to install modules in Xo.

P.S: in Xo you need to use 'su' and 'yum install SOAPpy' :)

Ah, then you need to package SOAPpy in your activity, and install it in the home directory.

p.s. Good point, though that depends on your firmware version. later ones have included sudo.
