I stuck a 16GB SD card into my XO.
It works.
I went to Project Gutenberg and downloaded a PDF of 'Pride and
Prejudice'. Been wanting to re-read that for a while.
Opened up the Journal, dragged that entry onto the SD card icon at the
bottom.
Then opened a terminal and cd'ed into /media, found the mounted SD card
volume, looked inside, found the PDF file.
df -h told me how much space was left on the card. It appears I only
have room for 20,000 more books.
No doubt the 64GB cards will be out in 1.5 years.

OK ... it works ... where did you get it? I've only found 8 GB ones on line.

_Pride and Prejudice_ isn't all that big ... try some of the 600+ page
programming books.

As will, no doubt, a version of the XO with more power for older
children who will have outgrown a GB of flash and 256 MB of RAM.

All I need now is my yoyo charger and my rollup solar panel and a few
spare batteries. Once I have those, I'll never again have to worry that
I might suddenly become marooned on a tropical island and die of boredom.

I can see that my OLPC is going to be very handy for reading PDF data books and manuals at my workbench. This is great.
Is there some way to zoom in the PDF reader? I figured out most of the game keys for moving through the file (with the display rotated into ebook mode) but couldn't find a zoom.
bash-3.2# df -h

Get an account on the bug tracker at http://dev.laptop.org look through
the feature requests and if its not there then file one. I think we
have talked about such a feature.
elf.elf.baby wrote:Forgive me, but I've lost track of SD and SDHC compatibility. Does the XO read both SD and SDHC?
And if it reads plain SD, can it see an entire (relatively rare, or was) 4gb SD card?
Is there any limit to the number of directories, or number of files, which it can see, in general? I have a couple MP3 players which do have restrictions. One, the VAMP 425 sees my 4gb card as 2gb, which is not a terrible problem.
Thank yoU!
